Request for Approval on Home Projects
We all want to keep our property looking good, and many neighbors have projects that bring convenience, privacy, and the latest upgrades to our homes. These projects enhance our enjoyment of our homes and add value for future resale.
To ensure these projects enhance the overall neighborhood environment while protecting the rights of others, the Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions includes an amendment requiring approval of certain projects.
Article VII of the Association Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions provides information regarding building facades/exteriors, signs, animals/pets, antennae/satellite dishes, pools, fences, and trucks. The Article describes how properties should be maintained, including vegetation and waste bins. The Article also requires homeowners to comply with all government regulations, including zoning and building codes.
Amendment No. 1 to the Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions creates an Architectural Review Committee. This Committee is charged with approving any alterations or improvements to your property.
Projects that must be approved include temporary or permanent structures such as fences, structures, sheds, walls or other buildings. Any additions to or alterations of your property must also be approved.
The amendment provides details on what must be provided to the Architectural Committee for approval. Please note Article VII of the Covenants requires owners to secure the proper permits from the City of Naperville, and to ensure the project complies with all building codes and regulations.
